Was it a mistake to tell her?

so ive known this girl for a little over a year(from work), i could always tell she was kinda nervously attracted to me & i had a pretty big crush on her as well but never acted on it due to her having a bf.. well she quit the job about 4months ago but not before i got her phone number. about a month ago i was told by a mutual friend of ours who saw her at a party that this girl is now single. i contacted her a few days later and the convos have gone good, but i think i may have made a mistake. i 'came clean'& told her how ive always thought she was a sweetheart of a girl and how gorgeous i thought she was and ive liked her for a while yadda yadda and i didnt get a reply to that text. so i contacted her the following day not mentioning the prior topic at all and things went smooth.. she has ask for a picture message of me & told me she thinks im really cute when she got it. she also has aggreed to hangout with me this weekend so she must like me right? but i cant help but thinking i kinda ruined the mystery by telling her how i 'feel' so early on.. what do you think? p.s. the girl has always been kinda shy towards me if that helps..
