If the saying goes, the blood of the Martyr is the seed of the church, would that make the church a vampire?

Feeding on souls to appease it's blood lust? I believe in God but I don't believe in ritual dogma that uses my very soul to acquire power. That's just diabolic. I'll get off the soap box now.
