Telescope Question...?

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with eye piece questions, when its "MM" is it the smaller the number the greater magnification? I mean any information on eye pieces would help, for instance i located saturn the other night and i want to get a closer view from it the eyepieces i have came with the telescope. 25mm and a 9mm i have a meade Model 114EQ-Astr. Aperture 114 MM And focal length 1000mm. ANd also does it have to be the same brand eyepiece as it is the telescope?
