Is it moral to shoot dead an intruder who violates your home?

Some state laws may vary on this, but I believe in Indiana, it is legal to shoot dead an intruder. However there are stipulations. He must physically be in your house; he can't be on your porch, in your yard, etc. I've heard of a case where a homeowner killed a would-be intruder, but after the gunshot, he fell backward, thus ending up outside the home. The court did eventally side with the homeowner, but there was a lot of hle trying to determine that. And yes, were my family in danger, I would not hesitate to shoot to kill.
