I have creaking knees.well.somewhere between a creak and a squelch.?

my doctor wasnt very helpful.in fact he made me feel like i was being a hypochondriac for going to him over this.but ive had it a few years and i was wondering if it is a medical condition or is the doctor right.its just something i gota learn to live with??one time it did swell slightly.sometimes it hurts.but usually its just the annoying creaking
