Do mice store and eat acorns like squirrels?

My sister has been finding acorns in a variety of odd spots in her log cabin out in the country. There does not appear to be any mouse droppings or chewings near by. She has found mice in her cabin in the past. Do mice store and eat acorns like squirrels to? She found one on top of the TV (!!) and a whole row neatly tucked into the area between the mattress and the box springs on her bed. Freaky! We think it's probably mice, but have just never heard of them gathering and storing them up like squirrels. Anyone else had this experience?
